The Kings come into this game after defeating the Brooklyn Nets 153:121 as the Kings shattered records against the Kevin Durant-led squad. The Kings have been one of the hottest scoring units and the best part is that they are no more just dependent upon De’Aaron Foxx, who is leading the scoring column but doesn’t have to put up big numbers to sustain the offensive effort. They are the second-best shooting, clicking at around 49% percent while having the second-best offensive rating.

As a result of this upheaval, the Kings have won seven out of the nine games, having scored 120 or more in five of the last six games. Domantas Sabonis has been absolutely amazing in terms of rebounding and scoring. Kevin Huerter’s long-range shooting has been second to none whereas Harrison Barnes has recovered his rhythm, accompanied by promising rookie Keegan Murray. Malik Monk leads the second unit as a playmaker and scorer. The Kings need to improve their defense though.

The Spurs enter the game after losing 110:117 despite a 31 points performance by Jakob Poeltl. They have now lost nine of their 15 games and have won just one out of the last eight games. This is in contrast to how they started the season, winning five of their seven games. The team has been doing a woeful job on the defensive end and they have been struggling to fend off even so-so attacks. This is in line with what was expected from the rebuilding squad.

The Spurs were among the top squads offensively and under Greg Popovich, the ball distribution has been prioritized. Lately, they have lost the zip on that end and even their scoring leader Keldon Johnson has been struggling. Devin Vassell’s production has been decent at best, whereas Tre Jones despite his astounding playmaking hasn’t been effective because his scoring has been limited. Poeltl has been doing his job as a rebounder, screen-setter, and a scorer. Overall, the Spurs have shown that they need a lot of improvement.

  • Kings: QUESTIONABLE: Keegan Murray;
  • Spurs: OUT: Malaki Branham, Romeo Langford, Zach Collins, Blake Wesley.
  • Expected Leading Scorers: De’Aaron Fox(22-27 Points), Domantas Sabonis(20+ Points), Keldon Johnson(20+ Points);
  • Expected Leading Rebounders: Domantas Sabonis(11-14 Rebounds), Jakob Poelt(10-13 Rebounds);
  • Expected Leading Playmakers: De’Aaron Fox(7-9 Assists), Domantas Sabonis(7-10 Assists), Tre Jones(6-9 Assists).

The Kings' offense has been peerless lately and they look so fluid with each game that if they even sustain 4/5th of the current rhythm, they will end the season as one of the best offensive squads. Their defense needs work but if they keep on stacking up points like this, they can become a formidable shoot-out squad. For the Spurs, their season is looking bleak all of a sudden and they are showcasing signs of a rebuilding team.

For the Spurs, controlling the inside-outside combination of De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis will be tough and when you fixate on them, Kevin Huerter is ready to bury outside jumpers at a click’s notice. The Spurs have been terrible on the offensive end lately so they have lost the plot on both ends. That is why I see a Kings win with a big margin and the points range to be 237-247. I see a scoreline of 128:112 here.
