Brooklyn lost to Memphis in the Summer League a year ago, and now the Nets are considered the favorites. Will the club from New York be able to take revenge for last year's defeat?

The Nets were hit hard by roster losses last season, so they had to give a lot of chances to young players. Brooklyn put together a very capable roster in the current Summer League, and many of them already have decent NBA experience. David Duke and Cameron Thomas are averaging 20+ points in Las Vegas, while Day'Ron Sharpe and Kessler Edwards are also leading the club in scoring. There are no basketball players on the roster who were drafted in 2022, and the youngest potential newcomer is Donovan Williams, who played well for his university last season. Williams averaged 12.7 points and made 43.6 percent of his three-pointers.
In two Summer League games, Brooklyn has one win. After a 4-point loss to Milwaukee, the Nets defeated Philadelphia, 91-84. The Nets made only five of their 19 three-pointers, with Kessler Edwards making the most. Cam Thomas made only five of 17 shots from the field but hit 15 free throws. Thomas had 26 points and David Duke had 21.
Memphis Grizzlies
Memphis is one of the youngest teams in the NBA, and they selected four more players in the last draft. So far, the biggest surprise among potential rookies has been Kenny Lofton, Jr., who was not drafted, while Jake Laravia, David Roddy, Vince Williams Jr. and Kennedy Chandler are averaging less than the 19-year-old big man. That said, the Grizzlies have sophomores Santi Aldama and Ziaire Williams on their Summer League roster, and Las Vegas point guard Tremont Waters leads the way, averaging 16 points.
Memphis has now played five games in the current Summer League, three in Salt Lake City and two in Las Vegas. After beating Philadelphia, Minnesota and Utah, the team lost to the Clippers and Oklahoma. The Grizzlies defeated the Timberwolves in their last game, 70-63. Memphis made only three of their 31 three-pointers, but their opponent's stats were only slightly better. Aldama was the best player on the team with 22 points and Ziaire Williams never came to the floor.
Head-to-head encounters
The Grizzlies and Nets met in Summer League a year ago and Memphis was stronger with the score 91-84. The Grizzlies' roster was much different then than now with Xavier Tillman, Killian Tillie, Desmond Bane and John Konchar playing. Memphis had a good shooting percentage from beyond the arc, while Brooklyn didn't have any.
Expert Betting Tips
Brooklyn is showing very productive basketball even despite their low three-point percentage. The Nets have good shooters and Memphis also has a number of quality offensive players for the Summer League. The last head-to-head was also interesting, and we should expect something similar now. The Grizzlies need to improve on offense and they can surpass the 80-85 point mark if they improve on their long-range shooting. I suggest we bet on the following outcomes:
- Total Over (172.5) for 1.88;
- Memphis Handicap (+2.5) for 1.71;
- W2 (incl. OT) for 2.01.
