Milwaukee have been one of the championship favorites for the past three or four years, but this year has not been a good start. In the series with the Cubs, the Brewers lost twice with one win. Now they face the underdog Baltimore Orioles.

Seiya Suzuki came to MLB as one of the strongest players in the Japanese league. He took over right away: hit and run in the first game, an RBI in the second, a home run in the third. Milwaukee seem to have been so stunned that they never figured out what to do against this brash debutant. Even the National League’s best pitcher, Burns, had no answer.
The Milwaukee offense scored 5 and 4 points twice, but were left completely scoreless in one game.
And the defense, for which the Brewers have always been known, was a failure. In one game against the Cubs, Milwaukee missed 9 (!!!) points. And that was one of the most reliable defenses of last year.
But Baltimore doesn’t have Suzuki. Yes, there are strong Mullins and Mancini, but that’s probably all the outsider can boast.
Milwaukee’s best chance to come out of the doldrums and find their compelling defense is a series with the Orioles.

The Orioles have lost all three of their starting games to Tampa: 1-2, 3-5 and 0-8.
Milwaukee lost two games out of three at the start of the season to the Chicago Cubs: 4-5, 0-9. But they won the last game of the first series: 5-4.

Milwaukee will have to regain their confidence this season. The Orioles are the clear underdogs in this pairing. So, Milwaukee will have to play a solid defensive game with the support of starting pitcher Houser and the reliever.
