American Football. NFL. Regular Season. Week 6
Washington Football Team vs Kansas City Chiefs
Stadium: FedEx Field (Landover)The Kansas City Chiefs are off to a poor start to the new season. Patrick Mahomes and company have only 2 wins in 5 games. Will one of the most promising teams of our time be able to improve their stats in an away match against the Washington Football Team? There are several options to bet on.
Washington plays defenseless
The Metropolitan team is far from the weakest in the NFL at the moment. Two wins in five games and 11th place in the offensive rating is a glaring confirmation of that. Ron Rivera's team is really good on offense, scoring points against some of the toughest clubs in the country. Young quarterback Taylor Heinicke, while making many mistakes, has improved from game to game. Antonio Gibson, with 311 yards passing and 3 touchdowns is one of the best running backs in the league at his position.
It's a shame Washington can't do better because of a completely toothless defense. Only the Kansas City Chiefs have missed more passes than the Washington defense in the first few weeks of the season.
Kansas City was broken by Tom Brady
The 2020 Super Bowl winners reached the 2021 Super Bowl without much trouble. But there, the great Chiefs were met tough by Tampa's Tom Brady. Mahomes lost, Brady reasserted his indisputable status as the best quarterback of all time, and the Kansas City Chiefs seem to be in a mental black hole they can't seem to climb out of.
How else do you explain what's going on with Andy Reid's team this season? Fifth in offensive performance and last in defense. How could a team from the league's top 2 turn into an outsider in six months or so? Other than a psychological barrier, there's no explaining it. The Chiefs need a strong winning streak that will give the team back its confidence.
Head-to-head encounters
Kansas City beat Washington 6 times in a row. However, the last time the rivals met was back in 2017.
Expert Betting Tips
Whatever is going on with the Chiefs' defense, Patrick Mahomes is showing in every game that he's all right. 1,490 yards per pass and a league-best 16 touchdowns - what else is there to talk about? It's too early to write Kansas off. Perhaps the team, led by such a phenomenal quarterback, will start their winning streak against Washington who, with their 31st defense in the NFL, is a great opponent for the Chiefs right now.
Prediction: The Kansas City Chiefs will win a high-scoring match with confidence.
