Matthew Stafford, the Rams' new quarterback, has been proving since Week 1 of the 2021 championship that the Rams made the right choice. The playmaker enters Week 7 with a 5-1 balance, 1,838 yards per pass, and 16 touchdowns to his credit, thrown for just four interceptions. Stafford's completion percentage is nearly 70. What can I say, these are great numbers, describing Matthew Stafford as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL today.
It is mostly Stafford’s work that let the Rams sit comfortably in the top 5 of the National Football Conference standings. Still, the first place in the NFC West division is still taken by Arizona with 6 wins in 6 games, including over the Rams in Week 4.
Last Sunday, Los Angeles met no resistance in an away game against the New York Giants, 38-11. Stafford had four touchdowns, two of them were taken by the team's best receiver, Cooper Kupp.
Detroit is a nightmare
Again, it's worth saying how awesome of a quarterback Stafford is. Before he was traded for Jared Goff, the Lions were definitely not that terrible. Now with Goff, Detroit doesn't seem to have any prospects at all. 6 weeks passed, there are 6 losses. And only in one game did Detroit have any chance to succeed: in Week 5, when they lost away to Minnesota by only 2 points, 17-19.
As for Jared Goff, his numbers are just as deplorable as his team's results. First of all, there are 15 sacks, and then 4 interceptions for only 7 touchdowns. As a result, Goff barely scrapes together 1 scoring pass per game on average.
Head-to-head encounters
The last time the opponents met was in 2018 when Jared Goff's Rams beat Matthew Stafford’s Lions 30-16 in Detroit.
Expert Betting Tips
Jared Goff's 15 sacks indicate the extreme weakness of the Detroit Lions' offensive line. It looks like Aaron Donald and others will simply destroy their former quarterback. Not only does Detroit have no chance to win in Los Angeles, but even 1 touchdown is highly questionable.
Prediction: Los Angeles Rams will thrash the outsider.
