Derbies all around Europe: Accumulator Tips for September 22

Sunday brings us several interesting matches across Europe, and this time I have analyzed one match from each, the Italian and Spanish championships, and one match from the French Ligue 1. The most interesting derby match will be played in Italy, a local city derby between Inter and AC Milan, in Madrid we also have a small city derby between Rayo Vallecano and Atletico Madrid, while in France Lyon will welcome Marseille in the derby of the round.

While the teams are moving in different directions, on Sunday at 21:45 in the fifth round of the Italian Serie A, a new clash between Inter and Milan awaits us, in a match known as the Derby della Madonnina. Inter enters this very important match with great confidence. Despite recent draws, 1-1 against Monza in Serie A and 0-0 against Manchester City in the first round of the Champions League, the Nerazzurri are in a much better position, driven by recent derby dominance. They have managed to win six consecutive meetings with Milan, including a triumph in April, when they won their 20th Scudetto, further cementing their place among the elite of Italian football. On the other hand, for Milan, the past month was a period that brought increasing concern among fans and coaching staff. After a very active summer transfer window, with plenty of new signings and high expectations, it was clear that the club's ambitions were high. However, the Rossoneri are currently struggling with challenges in trying to find the necessary consistency in their performances. Both teams score, it was a winning bet in five of the last six meetings between these two rivals in Serie A, so considering the current form, and the quality of the teams, I decided on this option when it comes to their upcoming clash on Sunday night.

Rayo Vallecano vs Atletico Madrid (La Liga)

Atletico Madrid will look to record a fourth straight win in all competitions when they take on Rayo Vallecano at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas on Sunday night in La Liga. Rayo started the season by picking up four points in their first two league matches, beating Real Sociedad 2-1 and drawing 0-0 with Getafe. This was followed by two consecutive defeats against Barcelona and Espanyol. Rayo returned to winning ways on Monday, defeating Osasuna 3-1 after a turnaround which gain them seven points and ninth place in the table. Atletico have started the season in excellent form, picking up 11 points from five La Liga games, with three wins and two draws, currently placing them in third place in the table. Simeone's team is four points behind leaders Barcelona and three behind Real Madrid who occupy second place, so the situation at the top of the table could change quickly. Atletico have quality in all positions, and since Simeone can rotate the team this weekend, we don't expect any consequences from the European game. Rayo may be able to score, but we predict that the visitors will manage to get all three points on Sunday night.

Lyon vs Marseille (Ligue 1)

After the terrible start of the season and two defeats without a goal scored, Lyon finally won against Strasbourg and drew against Lens, gaining 4 points which placed them in 13th place. Last season they also struggled at the start of the season, and this start isn’t very promising. Marseille on the other hand are playing very well with De Zerbi on the bench. They have 3 wins and a draw which is enough for 2nd place, with 10 points, same as Monaco and 3 less than PSG. This match is the derby of the round in France, and it will be very tense as on the field so on the stands and in the city. These teams are playing offensively, especially Marseille and we can expect a derby match with many goas.
