Fourteenth-ranked Tunisian stalwart Ons Jabeur advanced with a 6-2, 6-7, 6-3 win over Latvian Anastasija Sevastova in the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. Jabeur had Anastasija beat in the service game, edging her 69-53 on service points. The receiving points battle turned out to be close with the Tunisian holding just a two-point edge with 36. Jabeur has now won 45 games in the WTA season and this win has set up a game for Ons with Danelle Collins, who advanced after a walkover win versus Lauren Davis.
Meanwhile, qualifier Anna Kalinskaya beat the twenty-eight seeded Sara Sorribes Tormo, winning 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. Anna kept a margin of eight points in both service and receiving points, while also winning six out of 10 break-points compared to 3/14 by Sara. On the other hand, Maria Sakkari and Viktorija Golubic are engaged in a thrilling tussle with Maria winning the first set 7-5 while Golubic is up at 5-3 in the second set.
