The Romanian duo of Irina Camelia-Begu and Andreea Mitu advanced to the second round after taking care of business against France’s Caroline Garcia and Argentina’s Nadia Podoroska. The pair won 6-4, 7-6 in an intense match-up. The Romanian pair won 50 service points compared to 41 by Garcia and Nadia. Earlier, Irina got trounced out of the first round in the Singles match-up by Andrea Petkovic losing 2-6, 6-7.
In another match-up, Montenegro’s Danka Kovinic and Sweden’s Rebecca Peterson punched through the pair of Colombia’s Maria Camila Osorio Serano and Dutch tennis player Rosalie Van Der Hoek winning 6-3, 6-2 to breeze through the first round. The pair of Danka and Rebecca had a 73% win on the first serve compared to 59% by Maria and Rosalie.
