Ukrainian Tennis Player Tsurenko Experienced Panic Attack After Pressure From WTA Head

Ukrainian tennis player Lesia Tsurenko accused former WTA head Steve Simon of pressuring her, which led to a panic attack and her withdrawal from a tournament.

Lesia Tsurenko on her social media
Pain, fear, panic attacks, humiliation, withholding information, harassment of my team to silence me... and this isn't even the full list of what I've had to endure.

She added that after the incident, she sought support from the WTA but faced indifference. According to her, the organization sided with the official rather than the athlete. She emphasized that she is now determined to seek justice in court.

It's worth noting that the conflict between the player and the WTA began in 2023 when Tsurenko spoke about her panic attack following a conversation with Steve Simon regarding the participation of Russian athletes.

Recently, it was announced that the WTA will launch a program to provide financial support to tennis players on maternity leave.
