The Age: Medvedev to Pay Hefty Fine for Australian Open Conduct

According to The Age, fifth-ranked ATP player Daniil Medvedev will face a fine of $76,000 following his performance at the 2025 Australian Open.

The 28-year-old Russian, who exited the tournament in the second round after losing to the 121st-ranked American, Learner Tien (3:6, 6:7, 7:6, 6:1, 6:7), will be fined $10,000 for misconduct in his first match (breaking his own racket and damaging the net) and $66,000 for his second match (throwing his racket into the advertising boards, arguing with the chair umpire, aggressively shouting at fans in the stands, and skipping the press conference).

The total fine amounts to 123,000 Australian dollars, while Medvedev, who is set to drop out of the ATP top 5 after the 2025 Australian Open, earned $200,000 in prize money.
