Tennis Player Purcell Temporarily Suspended for Doping Violation

26-year-old Australian tennis player Max Purcell, winner of the 2022 Wimbledon and the 2024 US Open doubles titles, has been temporarily suspended from competition.

This decision was made by the Independent Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) due to a violation of anti-doping rules.

Purcell admitted to breaching Article 2.2 of the tennis anti-doping program (use of a prohibited method) and requested a temporary suspension, which took effect on December 10, 2024.
