World No. 170 Benjamin Hassan defeated American Christopher Eubanks (105) to become the first Lebanese player in history to claim victory at an Olympic tennis tournament.
The meeting on Court 11 at Roland Garros lasted 57 minutes and ended 6-4, 6-2 in favor of the Lebanese.
Hassan made it to the main draw of the tournament thanks to a universal spot. He will play the winner of the Sebastian Baez (Argentina) vs Thiago Monteiro (Brazil) match in the second round. He will also take part in the doubles with Hady Habib.
