Current world number one and ATP Finals 2024 winner, Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner, will be permitted to train under certain conditions during his suspension, according to Tennis Italiano.
The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) reported that the 23-year-old athlete can conduct training sessions with his coaching staff as long as he does not do so at ATP, WTA, Grand Slam events, or any official organizations. Two coaches, Simone Vagnozzi and Darren Cahill, will work with Sinner, focusing primarily on his physical conditioning.
A three-month ban, effective until May 4, 2025, was imposed on Sinner on February 15 after he agreed to a settlement with WADA, following positive tests for clostebol in March 2024. However, ITIA stated that using the substance was not intentional on Sinner’s part. He will officially be allowed to return to training on April 13.
On February 19, attorney Jamie Singer, representing the world number one, commented to Sky Sport Italia that his client’s is treated unfairly by other players.
World number seven and 99-time ATP singles champion, Serbian Novak Djokovic also criticized the decision regarding Sinner's doping case in an interview with Doha News on February 17.
