On June 5th, French sports newspaper L'Equipe reported that Serbian tennis player and ATP World No. 1, Novak Djokovic, will undergo knee surgery on his right meniscus.
The 37-year-old Djokovic's journey at the 2024 French Open came to an end on June 4th after defeating Argentine Francisco Cerundolo (6-1, 5-7, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3) in the round of 16 due to injury. Djokovic had to take a medical timeout at the beginning of the second set.
According to available information, Djokovic will take at least three weeks off from training, which automatically rules him out of the 2024 Wimbledon tournament scheduled from July 1st to 14th. It is noted that Djokovic's decision to undergo surgery is motivated by his desire to compete at the Olympic Games in Paris.
