In a five-set match in the Roland Garros Round of 16, Djokovic defeated Argentine player Francisco Cerundolo, advancing to the quarterfinals. Djokovic now holds the record with 59 Grand Slam quarter-final appearances.
Former Swiss World No. 1 Roger Federer held the previous record with 58 quarter-final appearances.
It was also revealed that Djokovic equaled Federer's record for most Grand Slam victories. Additionally, Djokovic set a new record for most Grand Slam single titles.
