Roland Garros director Amelie Mauresmo, known for her two victories at Grand Slam tournaments, has confirmed that Rafael Nadal's French Open farewell ceremony has been canceled.
The 14-time Roland Garros winner will play in the upcoming tournament in Paris. The main part of the French Grand Slam tournament will take place from May 26 to June 9.
The Daily Mail quotes Mauresmo as saying:
As you can imagine, we had something planned for him. But ... because he doesn't know if it's going to be his last Roland Garros or not, he wants to leave the door open, maybe to come back next year as a player.
Nadal himself earlier said that he will play at Roland Garros if he does not feel helpless. Rafael also expressed his desire to play with Carlos Alcaraz in a doubles match at the Olympics in Paris.
