World number one, Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner, spoke about his doping case following his victory in the final of the Australian Open 2025. Sinner's case is scheduled for a closed-door hearing at the CAS in April.
I keep playing like this because I have a clear mind on what happened. If I knew I was guilty, I would not play like this, and that's it. I still believe every time [the ruling] came out in a positive way [because I was acquitted], and I still believe it's going to be that case. At the moment I'm not thinking about this.
On January 26, Jannik Sinner defeated German tennis player Alexander Zverev in the final of the 2025 Australian Open in three sets with scores of 6:3, 7:6 (7:4), 6:3.
Recall that in 2024, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) revealed that the Italian player was accused of using banned substances.
However, Sinner managed to avoid a lengthy suspension as an independent body investigating tennis violations found no evidence of intentional drug use.
In other news, the Italian tennis player tried to console German athlete Alexander Zverev after defeating him in the final.
