In response to his longtime rival Rafael Nadal's decision to retire, Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer expressed his emotions in a touching social media post.
Federer wrote in the comments section of Nadal's retirement announcement:
What a career, Rafa! I always hoped this day would never come. Thank you for the unforgettable memories and all your incredible achievements in the sport we love. It has been an absolute honor.
Nadal, 38, a two-time Olympic champion (2008 and 2016), former world No. 1 (holding the top spot for 209 weeks), and winner of 24 Grand Slam titles, revealed on October 10 that he has decided to step away from professional tennis. His final competition will be the 2024 Davis Cup finals, set to take place in Malaga from November 19 to 24.
