Serbia's Novak Djokovic, the world number one, has set a new world record. The 24-time Grand Slam winner has become the oldest player to hold the top spot in the ATP rankings in the history of tennis.
The Serbian athlete surpassed the achievement of Swiss player Roger Federer, who retired in 2022. Djokovic is currently 36 years and 321 days old.
At the Indian Wells Masters tournament in the USA, Djokovic suffered a shocking defeat to the 123rd-ranked player in the world, 20-year-old Italian Lorenzo Musetti in the third round.
Following his loss to the Italian, Djokovic decided not to play in Miami, USA, stating that he is trying to "find a balance between personal and professional schedules."
Earlier, Djokovic announced the end of his partnership with his coach Goran Ivanisevic, with whom he had been working since 2018.
