World number one Novak Djokovic of Serbia has described 20-year-old Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz as the most perfect player he has seen in years.
The Tennis Letter quoted the 36-year-old world number one as saying:
Novak Djokovic
He’s as complete of a player I’ve seen in ages. The loss at Wimbledon pissed me off so much that I needed to win everything on American soil, which I did. It’s a great opportunity for me to reinvent myself and really push harder than I ever did.
In the summer of 2023, Djokovic was defeated by Alcaraz in the final match in London (England) at Wimbledon. Then the Serbian representative won the Masters in Cincinnati and the US Open-2023. Novak defeated Alcaraz at both tournaments. Last fall, he won the ATP Tour Finals for a record seventh time.
Earlier, Alcaraz confessed that he was motivated by Djokovic's leadership in the ATP rankings. The day before, Novak said that the Australian authorities had appointed the Serbian tennis player as "the world's main villain".
