Djokovic Booed After Refusal to Give On-Court Interview at Australian Open

Seventh-ranked ATP player and 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic of Serbia refused to give an on-court interview after advancing to the quarterfinals of the 2025 Australian Open.

On January 19, the 37-year-old tennis veteran defeated Czech player Jiri Lehecka (ranked 29th in ATP) with a score of 6:3, 6:4, 7:6 (7:4) in the fourth round. After the match, reporter Jim Courier traditionally met the player, but Djokovic took the microphone from him to express his gratitude to the audience for their support.

However, the crowd did not appreciate Djokovic's decision to skip the interview and reacted with disapproving boos. The reason for his refusal to communicate with journalists remains unclear.
