Two-time Grand Slam tournament champion Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz shared his thoughts on his defeat to Russian player Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals of the Madrid Masters clay court tournament in Spain.
The match ended with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in favor of Rublev.
In a post-match press conference Alcaraz said:
Carlos Alcaraz
Someone like Andrey gives you few opportunities and when you make unforced errors, it hurts. I should have been stronger mentally and maybe that took its toll today.
Rublev mentioned that he prefers not to dwell on his intermediate successes in the tournament after his victory.
In the semi-final of the Madrid tournament, Rublev will face the winner of the match between the 12th-ranked American player Taylor Fritz and the 21st-ranked Argentinian player Francisco Cerundolo. This match is scheduled for May 2 and will begin around 22:35 GMT+3.
