Police to investigate anti-Saudi Arabian banners in Crystal Palace game

As the furor over the Saudi-backed Newcastle United deal grows, some fans have now started to showcase their anger through banners. In the recent match between Crystal Palace and Newcastle United, a banner said, “Terrorism, beheading, civil rights abuses, murder, censorship, and persecution” in relation to Saudi Arabia. The local police are now going to investigate the matter and find out if there has been any breach of the prevailing law. Not only fans but various Premier League club owners and bigwigs have shown their disagreement over the Saudi-backed takeover.

The Saudi-led takeover of Newcastle has rightly received widespread condemnation and anger. To give the thumbs up to this deal at a time when the Premier League is promoting the women's game and inclusive initiatives such as rainbow armbands, shows the total hypocrisy at play and demonstrates the league's soulless agenda where profits trump all.
