The US Department of Education has made a strong recommendation for sports organizations in educational institutions to revoke awards and titles earned by transgender athletes participating in women's competitions.
The department sent a letter to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), emphasizing the need to "restore to female athletes the records, titles, awards, and recognitions misappropriated by biological males competing in female categories." This was reported by the education ministry's press service.
Additionally, the department noted that "adjusting records" aligns with the NCAA's new policy that prohibits transgender women from participating in women's competitions.
Former US President Donald Trump previously signed an executive order banning transgender individuals from competing in women's sports, stating that "men claiming to be women” have taken victories away from women in 3,500 events.
