Two-time Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics, native of Uzbekistan Elvira Saadi is banned for life by the Gymnastics Federation of Canada. This was announced on social networks by sports lawyer Emir Crowne.
Saadi, who has lived in Canada since the early 90s, had been under investigation since 2020. The former gymnast and coach was found guilty of emotional and psychological abuse of female athletes.
Saadi, 71, has been stripped of her membership in the Gymnastics Federation of Canada for ten years and banned for life from coaching, refereeing, directing programs and attending competitions.
In September 2023, French tennis player Alexis Musialek was suspended for life for organizing rigged matches.
