Trump’s Administration Suspends Funding for University of Pennsylvania Over Transgender Policy

The administration of Donald Trump has decided to suspend $175 million in federal funding to the University of Pennsylvania due to the school’s policy regarding transgender athletes.

According to NBC, in 2022, transgender student Lia Thomas, who was a member of UPenn's women’s swimming team, became the first transgender woman to win an NCAA swimming championship.

A representative from the University of Pennsylvania stated that they are aware of media reports regarding the suspension of funding; however, the university had not received any official notifications or specific details.

In February, Donald Trump signed an order that prohibits transgender women and girls from participating in women’s sports competitions.
