Three-Year-Old Indian Chess Player Anish Sarkar Becomes Youngest FIDE-Rated Participant

Anish Sarkar, an Indian chess player, has become the youngest player to receive a FIDE rating at the age of 3 years, 8 months, and 19 days. He was born on January 26, 2021, and had a rating of 1555 as of October 31.

Previously, this achievement belonged to another Indian chess player, Tejas Tiwari, who became the youngest FIDE-rated participant when he was 5 years old in 2023.

According to International Chess Federation (FIDE) rules, to receive a rating, a player must compete in at least five games with FIDE-rated players within 26 months and score at least 0.5 points.

As reported by First Post, Anish Sarkar scored 5.5 points out of eight possible in his first classical tournament and finished 24th.
