Thomas Bach Appointed Honorary President of the IOC

During the 144th session held in Greece, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decided to honor former president Thomas Bach with the title of honorary president for life.

The 71-year-old has led the IOC from 2013 until 2025. The election for Bach's successor will take place on Thursday, March 20. The new president's term begins June 2025.

Candidates for the position include Sebastian Coe, Morinari Watanabe, Johan Eliasch, David Lappartient, Prince Feisal al Hussein, Juan Antonio Samaranch Junior, and Kirsty Coventry.
