Sarah Hirshland confirmed to USA TODAY Sports on Monday night that the United States will receive the gold medal in the 2022 Olympic team figure skating competition in the wake of the suspension and disqualification of Russia's Kamila Valieva earlier Monday.
Recall, at the Games in Beijing, the U.S. national team took second place in the team competition. The Russian team won the gold medals.
January 29 CAS found Valieva guilty of violating anti-doping rules and stripped the athlete of all awards received from December 25, 2021.
