Kenya Simbas head coach Jerome Paarwater says the team’s month-long training camp in South Africa will be essential for them to prepare for the Rugby Africa Cup, as they start preparations toward a dream World Cup qualification.
The Simbas, Kenya’s 15s rugby team, has landed down South to begin an intensive high performance camp to equip them better ahead of the Africa Cup which will be staged in Uganda.
This follows a friendly match against the United Arab Emirates in Nairobi, which they came from behind to win. Speaking to Telecomasia.net, Paarwater says they will firm up their loose ends in the South Africa camp to be better equipped for Uganda.
In the UAE friendly we picked up quite a few things that we believe we should work on and improve. It also gave us an opportunity to see how we have implemented some of the things we have been working on in the local camp. The month-long camp in South Africa will be very critical for us because apart from training, we will play high-powered teams in friendly matches which will help us put into perspective what we will be working on.
The coach has named a 33-man camp to travel with to South Africa, including the diminutive Samuel Asati who starred for the Kenya Sevens in the World Series.
