Sebastian Coe, president of World Athletics, may not be eligible to run for the position of the new head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) due to age restrictions.
The IOC's ethics commission has published guidelines indicating that the 67-year-old Briton could face disqualification because members who reach the age of 70 lose their membership in the organization.
Additionally, potential candidates must avoid any conflicts of interest, particularly if they are serving as the president of a federation.
Current IOC president Thomas Bach, who has held the position since 2013, has announced that he will step down and will not participate in the elections set to take place in March 2025.
