The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has selected Salt Lake City, USA, as the host city for the 2034 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. This announcement was made today, July 24, at the 142nd IOC session.
IOC President Thomas Bach stated during the session:
The International Olympic Committee has the honor to announce that the 27th Winter Games 2034 are awarded to Salt Lake City, Utah.
It was previously announced that France will host the 2030 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Salt Lake City will host the Winter Olympics for the second time. The city already organized the Games in 2002. The U.S. will also host the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
The IOC session is taking place in Paris from July 23-24, just ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics.
