One person died and 842 other participants suffered various injuries while taking part in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon in Hong Kong, China's RTHK radio reported.
At about 13:15 local time, police received a report that a 30-year-old participant felt sick. The man was taken to hospital where he died shortly after. Another participant in the race suffered a cardiac arrest - physicians successfully resuscitated him.
In addition, 30 more people sought medical help with injuries - bruises and sprains. The total number of injured exceeded 800 people.
It is noted that the marathon became the largest since the pre-pandemic times: 74 thousand people applied, and the attendance amounted to 91%.
