Bosnian cybersports player Nikola NiKo Kovač was recognized as the best player following the CS:GO IEM Cologne 2023 Championship. He finished with an average rating of 1.35.
This is the eighth individual medal in NiKo's career. In addition, Kovač became the MVP at a LAN tournament for the first time in four years. The last time that happened was at the BLAST Pro Series Miami in 2019.
NiKo played a total of 14 maps at the championship. His best rating came in the finals against ENCE on the first map (Nuke), finishing with a 1.87. His worst ranked match at IEM Cologne 2023 was against Astralis (1.11).
On August 6, G2 defeated ENCE in the championship final with a total map score of 3-1. NiKo's lineup received $400,000 of prize money and a ticket to IEM Katowice 2024. ENCE, for its part, took second place and $180,000 of prize money.
IEM Cologne 2023 took place from July 26 to August 6 at the LAN in Cologne, Germany. 24 teams competed for one million dollars of prize money. The winner also received a slot at IEM Katowice 2024.
The next tournament for G2 is Gamers8 2023, which will take place August 16-20 at LAN in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 16 teams will compete in a Single Elimination bracket for a million dollars. The winner will receive $400,000 of prize money.
