
The format of the football tournament at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles will change, with the number of women’s teams increasing to 16, while the number of men’s teams will be reduced to 12.
This information was reported by TASS, citing remarks from IOC director Kit McConnell. Previously, the Olympics featured 16 men's teams and 12 women's teams, but this format will now be reversed.
The decision was made by the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee to promote and support women’s football. The Olympic Games will take place from July 14 to July 30.
