Head physician: Kostomarov is breathing on his own for several days, but the situation may change

The head doctor of the clinic "Kommunarka" Denis Protsenko told about the condition of the 2006 Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov.

Kostomarov was hospitalized with pneumonia on January 10. He was connected to a machine of artificial blood oxygenation ECMO. It was previously reported that doctors had to amputate Kostomarov's foot and fingers due to cell and tissue death.

For the last 48 hours, the organ dysfunction has begun to resolve. His kidney functions are beginning to return to normal. For the last few days Roman has been breathing on his own, but we are aware that the situation may change.

Kostomarov became a champion of the Olympic Games-2006 in Turin in a duet with Tatiana Navka. Also the duo has two gold medals of the World Championships and three victories in the European Championships.

Earlier, Sport-Express reported that the amputations were inevitable due to necrosis.
