French Runner Banned From Olympic Opening Ceremony For Wearing Hijab

French runner Sounkamba Sylla revealed that she was banned from participating in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris because of wearing a hijab.

APNews quotes Sylla as saying:

You are selected for the Olympics, organized in your country, but you can't participate in the opening ceremony because you wear a headscarf.

Recall, the Olympics are held in the capital of France from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The opening ceremony of the Games will be held on July 26.
