French ice dancers Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron, the 2022 Olympic ice dance champions, have officially announced their retirement from competitive skating, as reported by France Info.
The decision to retire was made on December 3, although the duo had already suspended their performances in March 2022 and had not participated in any competitions since then.
Papadakis and Cizeron had been skating together since 2008. At the Beijing Olympics, they set a world record, scoring 226.61 points, surpassing Russian dancers Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov, who finished second with a score of 220.51 points.
