Russian figure skater Roman Kostomarov's lungs are almost failing, Channel 5 reports, citing its source. Doctors continue to fight for the athlete's life, after he survived the amputation of his feet and fingers.
It is noted that after slight improvements in the health of the Olympic champion, his lungs have almost completely failed, and there is vascular tissue damage. Doctors also found fluid in the pleural cavity that wasn't there before.
Kostomarov has survived several amputations. After the last surgery, the skater's temperature rose. There is a possibility that the athlete has developed fibrosis. Now Kostomarov was again put into a medically induced coma.
Recall that on January 10, the athlete was hospitalized with a severe form of pneumonia. In order to keep him alive, doctors connected him to a ventilator and ECMO. At the end of January, Kostomarov was diagnosed with necrosis, and doctors had to amputate both his feet, and then his fingers.
Earlier, the source of Sport24 denied the information that the skater was reconnected to the ventilator and ECMO. According to the publication's source, Kostomarov's condition remains stable.
