Egyptian Greco-Roman wrestler Mohamed Elsayed has been detained by Paris police on charges of sexual assault, as reported by Le Parisien.
Elsayed was arrested after allegedly groping a woman in the street. Reports indicate that the athlete was in an altered state of consciousness at the time of the incident.
Elsayed was eliminated from the competitions at the Paris Olympics in the round of 16. Competing in the 67 kg weight category, the 26-year-old faced defeat against Azerbaijani wrestler Hasrat Jafarov. Mohamed is a multiple-time African champion and won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
