
Former co-driver of Nasser Al-Attiyah, Frenchman Mathieu Baumel, was involved in a car accident at the end of January. He shared on his social media that he had to agree to the amputation of his right leg and will also have to undergo surgeries on his left leg.

Despite this, Baumel intends to participate in the next Dakar rally.
The accident happened when he was helping another driver on the roadside, and he was struck by a vehicle, resulting in severe injuries to both legs, after which he was placed in an artificial coma.
Earlier, it was reported that Carlos Sainz Sr. was involved in a car crash during the Dakar rally, wrecking his vehicle.
