Beijing recently hosted its first-ever half marathon that listed both humans and humanoid robots. According to RIA Novosti, 20 humanoid machines participated in the event.
The winner among the robots was "Tiangong Ultra," which completed the 21.0975-kilometer distance in 2 hours, 40 minutes, and 42 seconds, beating its closest competitor for almost half an hour. Among the human competitors, Ethiopian runners achieved the best results, with the men finishing in 1 hour, 2 minutes, and 36 seconds, while the women completed the race in 1 hour, 11 minutes, and 07 seconds.
The winning robot weighs about 55 kg and is 1.8 meters tall. This year, it significantly improved its performance, increasing its speed to 12 km/h and becoming more stable thanks to an upgraded intelligence system.
According to the competition rules, robots were not allowed to operate for more than 3 hours and 30 minutes. Participants could substitute batteries or the robots in relay format, but each substitution incurred a 10-minute penalty.
