Australian Hockey Player Banned for a Year For Purchasing Drugs at 2024 Olympics

The Hockey Australia Federation announced that Thomas Craig has been suspended for 12 months following an investigation that found he purchased drugs during the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Craig has been banned from competing in any events since September 9. It's noted that six months of the suspension will be conditional. Moreover, the statement indicates that Craig could be considered for the Australian national team for 2025.

Under French law, the athlete faces only a fine of 150 euros without the risk of criminal prosecution.

It's worth mentioning that the Australian national team failed to advance to the semifinals of the 2024 Games in Paris, losing to the Netherlands with a score of 0-2.

The Olympic Games in the French capital took place from July 26 to August 11.
