American swimmer Katie Ledecky won gold in women's 1500 meters freestyle at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka (Japan). The athlete achieved a time of 15:26.27.
The gold medal was the 15th gold medal for Ledecky at the World Championships. She is now equal to her compatriot Michael Phelps.
The American also has seven gold and three silver medals from the Olympic Games.
Italy's Simona Quadarella (+17.04) took second place in the swim, while China's Li Bingjie (+19.44) took third place. The World Championships in Japan take place from July 14 to July 30.
