Swiss cyclist Gino Mader, 26, died after falling on stage 4 of the Tour of Switzerland.
After a high-speed fall at kilometer 197, Mader stayed unconscious for a long time. Doctors brought the rider back to life and transported him to the hospital by helicopter. Despite the intervention of specialists, the cyclist later died of his injuries.
The Bahrain team issued an official statement after the incident. The message said they were devastated by the hard news. The team also expressed its condolences to the family and loved ones of the cyclist, and dedicated the event to the deceased Mader.
