
French skier Margot Simond tragically lost her life during training at the Val d'Isère resort, according to a report from RMC Sport, citing a statement from the sporting complex.
The 18-year-old athlete died on the morning of April 24 due to an accident—a fall during practice. Emergency medical services arrived promptly, but they were unable to revive the skier.
Local authorities have opened an investigation into the incident, and the tournament has been canceled.
Margot Simond was the French under-18 slalom champion. She finished in 20th place in the slalom at the most recent junior world championships.
