Ireland women put together a second impressive performance in a row to beat Zimbabwe. The bowlers did the job by restricting the Zimbabwe batters to just 178 and the chase went comfortably as the top-order hunted down the target in 39 odd overs and with eight wickets in hand. Now, there is only one match left in the series and Ireland can’t lose the series.
Zimbabwe’s innings remained bereft of any substantial contributions as Mary-Anne Musonda scored 26 runs off 22 balls to top all scorers for the team. Apart from her, Modester and Precious Marange made 23 and 20 respectively. Whereas, debutant Tasmeen Graner bagged 20 runs. Irish bowler Celeste Raack rocked the Zimbabwe team with three wickets for 34 runs spell.
Gaby Lewis and Leah Paul once again put together an hundred+ partnership for the opening wicket. The duo singlehandedly outplayed the Zimbabwe bowlers, putting on a massive 145 runs before in-form Leah Paul got out for 63. Although Amy Hunter fell early, Orla Prendergast and Gaby comfortably completed the chase. Gaby Lewis won the Player of the Match honors for her 96 runs innings.
