Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker shared his thoughts on the upcoming title fight in the light heavyweight division between Alex Pereira and Magomed Ankalaev, scheduled for March 9 at UFC 313 in Las Vegas, USA.
Robert Whittaker for Submission Radio
Ah, it’s so hard to say [who wins], because Pereira has like shut down a lot of questions, but he’s never really been tested against proper wrestlers. Not that Ankalaev is like a full-blown wrestler. The whole thing is, though, you shut Pereira down by getting you on his back, okay? That’s how you beat Pereira.
Ankalaev last stepped into the octagon in October 2024 at UFC 308, winning against Aleksandar Rakic by unanimous decision. He currently holds a record of 19 wins, one loss, and one draw, with one fight declared a no contest.
Alex Pereira's last fight occurred in October 2024 at UFC 307, where he defeated Khalil Rountree by technical knockout in the fourth round. His record stands at 12 victories and two losses.
