Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker talked about what he expects from his upcoming fight against South African Dricus du Plessis at UFC 290.
Robert Whittaker, quoted by MMA News
I understand he's tough, but I do believe that I am just better. He's the sort of the guy that if you underestimate him which a lot of people have, he dismantles you. I'm not gonna do that, I'm training for war, an absolute fifteen minutes of carnage... That's how I always do my fights because he's a tough guy, but let me say I am very good at fighting tough guys and I'm good at dismantling them.
Recall, Whittaker and du Plessis will fight at UFC 290 on July 8.
Du Plessis, 29, defeated Derek Brunson by TKO in the second round at UFC 285 in March 2023. He has 18 wins and two losses under his belt.
Whittaker, 32, defeated Marvin Vettori by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 209 in September 2022. He has 24 wins and six losses under his belt.
