Famous UFC fighter Robert Whittaker admitted he wasn't surprised that many fans in Australia were cheering for Sean Strickland in his middleweight title fight against Israel Adesanya.
Whittaker said on The MMA Hour show:
No, I would’ve been surprised the other way. Everybody knows I’m not friends with Izzy. I don’t hate the guy, but I’m not friends with him by any means. He seems to rub a lot of people the wrong way. And I’m going to say, Sean, you know, he was wearing the [Crocodile Dundee] hat. He was wearing the hat. That’s something. Maybe that’s all it takes.
Adesanya and Strickland met in the octagon in the main event of UFC 293 on September 10 in Sydney, Australia. In this confrontation, Sean won by unanimous decision of judges and won the UFC middleweight championship belt. He has 28 wins and five losses on his account. Israel has 24 wins and three losses.
Whittaker's last fight was against Dricus du Plessis in July of this year at UFC 290. In this confrontation, Robert was defeated by technical knockout in the second round. He has 24 wins and seven losses on his record.
